Top Secret: The Resistance Chronicles 1

"i want it known!" flynn yelled over the noise of the wind "that i hate every thing about this situation!" having said his peace, flynn took one last swig of whiskey before tossing it aside, closing his eyes, and diving out the open cargo door "GERONIMO!"

after that, all he could hear was the rushing of air past his ears, after 5 seconds he opened his eyes. he was past the cloud layer now, and he could see the rocky sea rapidly approaching. upon seeing this flynn let loose a slue of curse words that would put most sailors to shame.

he fought the urge to pull the rip cord straight away, instead he waited until until the first of dukes companions pulled their chute

Before she could retort anything Duke jad already jumped from the plane. With a grimble she yelled at her team to start moving their asses before she pummled them.

After what seemed like forevef, when it was only a couple of seconds and a few bootings later she sprimted forward and made her leap into the heavens.

That feeling of air rushing through her hair was a magnificent feeling. If she could do this all the time, she would, bit thanks to the world she lives in, it wouldnt be possible, if ot didnt invlolve war.

She decided to play around im the air abit before she could pull her chute. She kept an eye on her minions while doing so. While sje twirled she saw that chrispy was having some difficulties with their chute. Sighing in frustration, she pulled in her arms and dove towards him like a rocket.

Reaching the little guy she saw that somehow his chute cord was damaged. Without a second thought she strapped him in with her, thankful to herself for carring extra straps on her chute pack just in case. Once strapped in she she pilled the cord before it was too late.

The rush of air that filled the chute jerked them up and had them soaring through the heavens. Chrispy squealed abit with fear when the air caugjt the chute. All she did was shake her head and yell at him to buck up and put his big boy pants on. She didnt have time for weaklings.

She steered her chute to join and group with the others, making sure they landed somewhat together.

Duke, Annika and Cooper descended in formation, each trailing the circular motion of the one before them. Closer to the ground, Duke lead his little group towards the observatory. It was easily the largest expanse of unoccupied space within the city, so they arched around the back, and came to a very smooth stop just behind the observatory. Annika, however, directed her fall to place her right on top of the observatory. That would be her vantage point.

"In the crow's nest, Captain." Annika stated through their team radio as Duke unstrapped his parachute.

"Fine." He remarked; "See anything?"

"It's a quiet night, which explains why we were able to fly in so easily. If Wenge attacked now, they'd be completely unprepared..." Annika could be heard setting up her rifle hastily.

"Even pigs gotta sleep." Duke seemed happy about this. Rightfully so - it would make their mission to secure a safehouse easier than expected; "Keep an eye on us, Annika. We're off to look at real estate."

Duke would not wait around for Flynn and Tary's team, as he expected they'd land closer to their own objectives. So, without any hesitation, the duo began climbing down the rocky base on which the observatory sat, into the town below.

flynn opened his chute, and landed near duke and his gang. the observatory area made for an excellent place to land, lots of space and no bright lights to give them away.

once he had landed, flynn unstrapped himself and packed the parachut back into its pack, it was messy, but it was at least out of the way. he stowed the pack with the others "i'll see you lot in a few hours" he muttered, cracking his neck. flynn was back in his element now, and nothing was going to get in his way.

flynn sprinted off into the city, he moved with amazing speed, thankfully the streets were empty, he just needed to be wary of patrols. he kept to the back streets and dark alleyways where ever he could

Heard a soft rustle of trees as her minions passed by. She was getting pissy and felt they were making too much noise for the middle of the night. As soon as she felt her feet touch the ground, she knew she would have to kick some ass. But that would have to wait for another time.

Pulling her pack off and re-stuffing her chute inside, she light footed over to her minions. With a sigh of relief she saw that they were awaiting for her orders. With a smirk she beckoned them to join her under the shadow of the observatory. She liked the cloak of darkness, it was handy at times, since she sometimes stuck out like a sore thumb.

"Alright Men, I need my two land scouts, Kreeper and Stitch, recon the area, take up any valuable Intel you can. We need to know as much as we can about the enemy stronghold. Pike, join the others upon the roof, they will need as many eyes as they can. The rest of the lot, find a secluded cave and set up camp there, inside the cave, deep. I don't need no Govt. finding out that we are here. Now move out!" She commanded them in a harsh whisper. As she watched them all scatter, she decided to join Annika u upon the roof top, she felt it was time for a little payback, that and she didn't want to take the risk of being spotted.

Duke and Cooper successfully made it down the cliff face, and upon touching level ground again, darted off into the alleyways. It didn't take them long before they encountered life, as the back alleys were surprisingly more active than the main streets. The underbelly of the city seemed to thrive where the Govt. forces did not care to go, and as a result, Duke and Cooper found themselves walking through what looked like a trade market for the poor and homeless.

"If I moight say, boss, we're not exactly disguised..." Cooper spoke softly, still attentively focused on the back alley crowd.

"Astute observation, Cooper."
"Thank you, sir-"
"Shut up. I'm no sir, and neither are these guys. If these guys had a problem with a pair of gijinkas, they would have done something about it by now. Maybe, like...gagged us and taken us in for a reward, something like that. We're part of the Resistance, Coops! If we're gonna find a base of operations for underdogs like ourselves, it's here amongst the underdogs of Mossdeep."

Meanwhile, Annika was sitting atop the observatory, setting up her rifle and preparing for a long night of looking at things through a scope. She did also have a 9mm pistol by her side, and on the roll of a 13 or higher, she would detect Kaler approaching and train the gun on her. On anything lower, she would remain oblivious.

Flynn ducked in and out of patches of darkness where he could, but the streets themselves got better lit the closer he got to the arena. he decided to skirt around the arena for now, checking out the perimeter security.

he back circled around, once again keeping to the shadows and began watching for patrol groups.

the security itself was actually rather well thought out, all guard patrols were groups of at least two people, regular radio check-in stations, and even (what looked like) overlapping patrols.

larger groups could be seen at the arena entrance, possible acting as security for the arena, and judging by the cheers coming from the place itself, a match was well underway.

flynn began to get a bit worried, once the final match was over, these streets would be flooded with people. he kept an ear out for the cheering to finish and decided to follow a couple of guards along their route and listen in to their conversation. hoping to gain some useful information.

14 or higher, something useful gained from information - under 14 and i learn nothing - 20 and i win at life/get some good intel

Kreeper and Stitch made their rounds of the outer perimeters of the city before they made their way inland. They stuck to the shadows like the cap'n said. There was nothing to report about the outer city limits, it was more of the inner city they had to be wary of, it was almost a few times they were spotted jumping from shadow to shadow of the tree lines. Kreeper cursed under his breath, wishing there was no moon out. He preferred utter darkness when it came to recon missions. As he was about to slink to another tree, Stitch had to pull him back before a Govt. Soldier saw him. Clamping a hand over his brother's mouth, he jerked Kreeper's attention to what almost got them caught.

Kreeper struggled a bit at his brother's hold, but stopped abruptly when he say the patrolman. They both sat as still as they could, until the patrolman passed them by, they didn't dare breath until he was well out of earshot. Stitch let go of his brother's mouth and socked him in the shoulder, "Careful next time, you idjit" Rubbing his arm, Kreeper sticks his tongue out at Stitch. "Bugger off, ya lemon" was his witty retort.

kssssk goes the radio. "you boys find anything?" says the voice. Before they answer, both of them hustle to a safe spot and put on their camouflage, to help conceal them from wandering eyes. Holding his wrist out, like he was checking the time, Stitch replied. "Aye cap'n there be a numba of trroops out on patrol. So fa' we have counted a grreat dazen or so" Stitch conveyed to the Tary. She had to listen carefully cause of their accents. "Alright, finish your round, and head back to the observatory." ksssk and the radio went dead.

Tary reached the top of the observatory. She took a quick pan of the rooftop before she spotted where Annika was bunked down at. Walking swiftly and quietly, she approached Annika, with the moonlight before her, her shadow cast itself behind her, giving her the optimal advantage. Lifting her leg up, she prepared to deliver a blow to Annika's side. A dice roll of less than 13 you be soft, anything high would be a more powerful blow.

Annika was staring through the scope of her rifle so intently, she was unaware she was being approached from behind. Perhaps she should have been more alert of her surroundings, but she was still trying to get a trace of her Captain in order to provide cover.

That's when the surprisingly heavy blow of Tary's kick connected with her side.
Annika let go of her rifle, took the full strength of the hit, but still managed to roll over and aim her pistol up at the attacker...at which point her expression changed to a mix of shock and rage;
"What in the actual f**k!? Have you gone rogue or something?" Annika winced as she held one hand over her sore side, still aiming her pistol up at Tary.

"Problem up there, An?" Duke's voice could be heard through Annika's communication device.

"Nothing I can't handle, boss." She grumbled back, slowly getting to her feet; "Listen, we have a mission to do here, so I don't care what petty reason you had for attacking me. Just let it be known, I now have an aspiration - Your job. Now get the hell off my roof."

Flynn followed the two guards along the quiet streets, he caught a lucky break when they stopped by a dark alley to have a smoke and a chat.

"Did you hear about what's going on at Shoal Cave?"
"You mean the place with all the Spheals?"
"Yeah, but, like...there's something going on there. You don't know?"
"Yeah! Yeah, I know! ...but i just want to make sure YOU know..."
"Oh, it's this HUGE--"

it was then that a mighty cheer went up from the arena, Flynn had been straining his ears to hear the conversation between the two guards and was taken a bit by surprise and flinched. "shit" he breathed, thankfully his voice was not noticed by the guards, as their radio buzzed to life.

"the arena fight has concluded, teams 1, 3, 7, 13, 17, and 19, report to designated arena exits for crowd control duties" the radio reported

"team 17 on route" one of the guards responded into the radio "come on man, i'll tell you later" he said to his partner

flynn watched the guards leave and then bolted through the streets back towards the observatory, luckily the guards route had moved him a bit more towards the business district, since the stores were closed, the streets were all but deserted.

flynn made it back to duke and the others in record time, skidding to a halt next to duke himself "we have a problem, there was an arena match, a big one by the sounds of things." he reported "the streets are going to fill up all around the city, everyone needs to be out of the open. the guards around the city have regular radio check ins, which means that broadcasts could be being monitored"

Tary looked at Annika, her words didn't phase her. "Rouge no. Just a little lesson to be given, about making little jokes, I do not appreciate." she said to the woman with no reguard for her feelings, if she had any. "As for leaving the roof top, you have no say in it. I am not leaving, so pretty much get your knickers unbunched from your ass and focus on what needs to be done." Crossing her arms over her chest she walks towards the oppisite edge of the roof, "Good luck on ever becoming a captain. its no easy task, especially for a woman." she called back to Annika. She admired the girl for striving for something, but she was going to go about it the wrong way. She had seen too many people wanting to be a captain, for all the wrong reasons, it was never a pretty sight.

Kreeper and Stitch slinked and snaked their way around the outside of the island. They were making their final lap around, heading back to teh observatory when they heard the loud cry from the arena. their hearts raced as they knew that at any moment, the crowd from the arena would let out, and that spelled trouble for them.

they both sprinted to a nearby tree and looked around. So far they hadn't seen anyone on this side of the island, but who knew what lurked around the boulder right behind them. Sneaking their way around the boulder, they had to stop abruptly. Stopping in their tracks they strained their ears to listen for the enemy, Kreeper thought he heard. After what seemed like an hour, no other sounds were made but they shallow breathing of the twins. Hearts racing they bolted towards the direction of the observatory.

Huffing and puffing they saw the tower breaking above the horizon, each of them cracked a smile, knowing their cap'n was waiting for them.

Meanwhile towards the far east area of the island, towards the water's shore, the rest of tary's minions were looking for a nice cave to settle in for the night. They reached the shore, deciding that this was a nice spot to set up camp. The group ventured into a near by cave and explored deep into it.

Traveling further and deeper into the cave, Thomas put a fist up and the troop halted. Looking around he found a small crevis and deemed that appropriate enough to set up camp in.

"What? Just...what!?" Annika couldn't believe what she was hearing, and while she had one or two things to say about the backwards logic she was faced with, she was aware that personal issues would have to wait while there was a mission to be done. As she rolled back over and took up aim again, she muttered over her shoulder...
"You had an emotional reaction to a throwaway comment, and took it out -in a physical way- on another Captain's underling. That's a pretty rookie mistake."
She paused.
"Oh, and if you're going to stubbornly insist on staying up here, you should probably get down. Standing out in the open like that is another rookie mistake."

Meanwhile, Duke [who was nowhere near the observatory], met up with Flynn apparently;
"Good job, man. I get the feeling not even these backstreets will be too quiet when the rush begins. We need cover."
Duke gazed around, looking for the nearest building that seemed empty.

On a roll of 11 or more, he finds a door ajar and leads the small group inside. Any less than that, and he is unable to find anything.

flynn followed duke into the building, the building seemed to be a disused warehouse of some kind, flynn took a deep breath of the air, tasting it with his senses "this warehouse hasnt been entered in a while, it's musty, and exceedingly dusty" he muttered while trying to stifle a sneeze "but that is no guarantee of safety...for now i vote we meet here, for now we must maintain radio silence until we know our transmissions are not being listened to, i will fetch your sniper from the observatory...with your permission of course, i dont want to start ordering around your people."

flynn awaited dukes reply while keeping an eye on the door

Tary just looked at the girl and shrugs. She knew she had to get down, but where she was located, no one could really see her unless they were far off. it was all a matter of geometry. Tary decided to leave the snipers side and head towards the far side of the building, there she crouched down and waited for her two scouts to join her.

Kreeper and Stitch had finally made it to the observatories base. Looking up at the massive structure they tossed their grappling hooks up towards the roof. Tary was sitting watching when she was nearly stuck in the head with a foreign object. Quickly she moved out of the way when a second one seemed to sail over her. She moved herself into a readied stance, ready to fight it it called for it.
